LEGACIES

Once you have taken care of your loved ones in your will, you may wish to leave a legacy to Langdon, ensuring we will be able to continue our much-needed work for many years to come.

Bequests and legacies are the greatest source of security for our charity. By including Langdon in your will you can play a vital role in ensuring the future generations at Langdon are supported to lead a full and independent life.

"When a legacy is left to Langdon the gift is totally tax-free, regardless of the amount"

When a legacy is left to Langdon the gift is totally tax-free, regardless of the amount. What’s more the value of the gift is deducted from the total gross value of the estate, which may reduce the amount on which tax is payable. There are many different types of legacy and you should, of course, take legal advice when preparing your will.

Today we are a lifeline for 100 vulnerable young adults. We need to prepare for tomorrow. For more information on supporting Langdon with a legacy, please email info@langdonfoundation.org.uk or call our legacy team on 0208 951 3942.

TYPES OF LEGACY
• Pecuniary

A fixed sum of money, property or other specific gift, which is made explicit at the time of writing a will.

• Residuary

The residue of an estate or percentage of the residue, which is everything remaining after all debts, expenses and legacies have been paid.

• Reversionary

Langdon will not inherit until after the death of another person who has the benefit of the estate during their lifetime. This ensures that the needs of the testator’s family are protected first and foremost.

• Specific

A gift of goods, such as property or shares, that is made explicit at the time of writing a will.
